Portland Oregon Documentary Photographer | 365 Project | 2017 | Weeks 1 and 2
I decided to try my hand at the 365 project this year. The goal is to take one photo a day for the entire year. Spoil alert: I already failed. I didn't start until the 3rd and I had a few times in the last 2 weeks where I had to use more than one photo from the same day. I'm okay with that. My thought is to blog the photos weekly, but I already failed at that too. So, we'll see.
The last two weeks were tough. I got the flu and then gave it to the rest of the family. I was in bed for four days straight...barely getting out of bed to drink some water and use the bathroom. It was rough. I've still got a lingering cough and while my fever is gone - my two boys and husband still have fevers. Hopefully this is the last big bug for the year.
This winter has been remarkable for Portland - it has been extra cold and extra snowy! It almost never snows in Portland, but somehow, this week we managed to get over a food in ONE NIGHT! My husband and I are from Michigan, so this was pretty commonplace for us, but not since moving to Portland. And, if you know anything about the city, they just aren't prepared to handle snow. So the entire city shuts down. We lost power for a few hours and the boys spent lots of time outside sledding, playing, and building snowmen (when they weren't feeling super sick.)
Even with our nasty flu virus, we had a great start to the New Year. This week ended with me having the honor of preparing a placenta for encapsulation...something I'm hoping to do a lot more of, this year.
